■Unityを使えば簡単にVRアプリケーションをビルドできる

自分で作ったVRコンテンツを自分でプレイするだけなら、Unityの再生ボタンを押してプレイするだけでも構いません。ただし、Unity環境のない人にプレイしてもらうことはできません。

Unityでは作ったVRコンテンツを、一般的なアプリケーションとして簡単にビルドすることができます。アプリケーションとしてビルドすることで、Unity環境のない一般の人に自分のVRコンテンツを配布することができます。

 

■VRアプリケーションをビルドする

 

作成したUnityプロジェクトを開きます。

 

 

まず、ビルドの設定を行います。Unityのメニューから、「File」→「Build Settings」をクリックしてください。

 

 

Build Settingsの画面が表示されます。Platform欄から『PC,Mac＆Linux Standalone』を選択してください。右のTarget Platformの項目を「Windows」に、Architectureの項目を「x86_64」にしてください。これでビルドの設定は完了です。「Build」ボタンを押してビルドを開始してください。

※本記事ではWindowsを対象にしています。

 

 

保存先の選択画面がでます。任意の保存先を指定し、ファイル名を入力して、保存ボタンをクリックしてください。ここで入力したファイル名がアプリケーションの名前になります。

 

 

ビルドが開始されます。コンテンツの内容にもよりますが、ビルドは数十秒～数分で完了します。

 

 

ビルドが完了すると、指定した保存先にexeファイルとフォルダが作成されています。アプリケーションを実行するには、この２つともが必要です。配布する際には、必ずこの２つをセットにして配布してください。

 

 

ビルドしたアプリケーションを実行してみます。exeファイルをダブルクリックしてください。はじめにグラフィックの設定画面が表示されます。適当に選択して、「Play!」ボタンを押してください。

 

 

Unityで作成したものとまったく同じ画面が起動するはずです。VRヘッドセットを被れば、そこにVRの世界が広がっているはずです。

これでVRアプリケーションのビルドは完了です。自作のVRアプリケーションを好きに配布することができます。

 

 

ちなみにOculusでは自作のVRアプリケーションをHome画面に登録することができます。OculusHomeの設定画面から「General」タブを開き、「Unknown Sources」の項目をオンにしてください。この状態で、自作のVRアプリケーションを起動します。

 

 

自動的にLibraryのページに自作のVRアプリケーションが登録されるはずです。次回からは、ここからアプリケーションを起動することができます。
